"If Roth Has His Way... Hernandez Will Return! Get more on Hostel | Posted 04.17.06 @ 11:50 pm ]
Quick tid-bit on Hostel 2 courtesy of those good fellas over at Arrow in the Head who got word directly from Eli Roth about who'd he like to cast in Lionsgate's sequel, which is already in the works. Eli tells AITH, "Yeah, Jay's [Hernandez] going to be in it, if I can afford him. After Hostel, he just shot Oliver Stone's World Trade Center and now he's starring in something Kimberly Peirce is shooting. If he's available and I can afford him, he'll be in it otherwise I'm going to have to figure out another storyline." Sony Home Entertainment will release Hostel on DVD tomorrow. "

Bad Dreams came out on DVD this Tuesday. Check it out, it's a great Horror movie from the 80's, made some good bank too back in the day too.
Also, what's this movie called 2001 Maniacs? Robert Englund is in it and it's produced by Eli Roth, but I was reading about it and it sounds cool.

Yeah i wanna see it. Have you seen the original? I've yet to see it, my uncle used to own a copy but no longer. Luckily a local record/film shop carries it but for $20, i'm gonna check this local mom & pop rental store to see if they got it in. As for the new one, i've heard mixed reviews, i still wouldn't mind seeing it.

Hey dudes it's me lol bloddy disutinmg "'Alien vs Predator II' Confirmed for 2007!! Get more on Alien Vs Predator | Posted 04.20.06 @ 07:10 pm ] Expect a full announcement as early as tonight, but 20th Century Fox has announced an August 10th, 2007 release for Alien vs Predator II, according to various sources. No details have been revealed -- here at B-D we dream of a world without Paul W.S. Anderson, but the world is far from a perfect place. Watch this spot for details as they come in. Fox's Alien vs Predator (review) banked in on August of 2004 scoring over $80 million here in the States, I bet people have learned their lesson though... " Fuck it, fucking pierce of shit. Fucking terrible film the first was. "Tarantino's 'Death Proof' Continues Casting for LA Shoot Get more on Dimension | Posted 04.20.06 @ 09:58 am ] WeinsteinCo.'s Grind House has been the center of attention as of late as Robert Rodriquez has shut down production on his 75-minute tale entitled 'Project Terror,' but as one shuts down the other is continuing to thrive. Quentin Tarantino’s half of the pic (titled Death Proof) is about to get underway in Los Angeles, and MTV reports that Find me Guilty” up-and-comer Cassandra Hepburn is in talks for a starring role in the film. "At least I wouldn't die in the film. My character wouldn't. That's a good thing. ... When I met with him, he was just this really down-to-earth, really nice, simple man who loves to make films, just like me." Mickey Rourke and “Wolf Creek” star John Jarratt are also said to be involved in the QT effort. Read on for a pic of Cassandra. Thanks to Moviehole.net for the heads up. " www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=6232&Template=newsfullThere si a picture of the female chick in the film and i really wanna see Grindhouse. "From 007 to the Devil? Posted by Clint Morris on April 20, 2006 According to TheHollywoodNews.com, the new Jimmy Bond, Daniel Craig, might be sprouting a couple of horns for his next film role. The site says Craig is circling “I, Lucifer” a film based on the book by Glenn Duncan. Craig would play the lead, the ‘horny’ devil himself. In the film, Craig’s Devil is offered one last shot at redemption by God: Live out a blameless life as a human, and all is forgiven. Lucifer doesn’t plan on taking up the offer, but he is keen to ‘trial’ it for a month – just long enough put a body through as much drug, sex and other multiple vice excess as possible in a month. Thing is, Lucifer starts to enjoy his new life and wonders whether he should consider taking up God’s offer, after all? Ewan McGregor is in talks to play the man, a failed British author, whose body Lucifer takes residence in. The film will be directed by “Superman Returns” writer Dan Harris. Harris and partner Mike Doughety, along with David Logan, adapted the book." cool sounds dudes.

Guess what Thread of the DEAD posters, I've got a little horror news of my own, albeit little news, but still.
Since I'm bored off my ass at work since I'm basically a glorified PA for this construction firm and it pays sweet, but I do about 20 mins of work a day(ala Jim from The Office lol)
Anyways, since CCW is the only thing I do to pass the time at the job and that leaves me a tonne of free time, I'm putting the pieces together for my next script.
Now, this is mainly for my own amusement and for fun, but it's not exactly an original script. Seeing as how I've recently bought all 7 Nightmare on Elm Streets, I've gotten really interested in the origins of Fred Kruger and find that to have limitless potential for a possible prequel, one that Englund has been bitching about for years. So for the next month or so, as long as it takes, during my free time at work and at home, I'm gonna make my version of ANOES the prequel, just for fun and some horror portfolio stuff. I've got some insane ideas and think this could be something interesting to pass the time.

On the "just saw" horror front, I just saw Silent Hill.
IMO, it was pretty fucking cool, not AS gory as I would've wanted it to be, but beautifully shot and well done, with some awesome scenes. 8 out of 10, best horror movie for me since Dawn '04.

Cool, i think i'll start a screenplay thread where posters casn do small scripts. AICN "Wanna see the cover to Quentin Tarantino's DEATH PROOF script? I promise you effin' do! Hey folks, Harry here... Jakamaku sent in the following image and boy... does it get me excited about GRINDHOUSE. No, GRINDHOUSE is not dead. There's a whole helluvalot of rumors circulating right now, but I assure you. You will be seeing GRINDHOUSE in a theater sometime before the end of the year or first quarter of next year. Has shooting on Robert's half stopped for now? Yes, will it resume? Yes. Will Quentin be filming DEATH PROOF soon? Yes. With "The Best Of QT Fest" coming up tomorrow through a week from today... we'll be seeing and hearing a lot about what's on Quentin's mind. Now - to give you a glimpse at the Title Page to Tarantino's DEATH PROOF. The "R.I.P." stands for "Rodriguez International Pictures" - Essentially Rodriguez's form of A.I.P. which will be producing and creating pics along this vein for sometime to come. Now enjoy this very Grindhouse image...." Here is the pic. www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=23104

Don't know if anybody else has seen the trailer yet, but the long trailer for Pulse is fucking amazing, probably my "movie of the summer" to see, since Dahila drops in September. Holy shit does it look sweet and I totally geeked out with my friends when I saw Silent Hill on Saturday night, I was so impressed!
Only thing that comes close is Miami Vice by my boy Mann because it's in DV and looks a shitload like The Shield and possibly Posiden, if only because I'm seeing it in IMAX!

"The Great Viggo 'Promises' to Rejoin Cronenberg Get more on General Horror | Posted 04.24.06 @ 11:59 pm ]
Whether or not it's horror related, anything David Cronenberg (minus Spider) deserves a mention here on B-D ... did you see A History of Violence? Viggo Mortensen is reuniting with director David Cronenberg for Eastern Promises, a thriller being produced by Paul Webster for Focus Features and BBC Films, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Penned by Steven Knight ("Dirty Pretty Things"), the story is kicked into gear after a Russian prostitute dies during childbirth and a nurse is dragged into an underworld involving the Russian mob. Mortensen will play a mysterious man with ties to the mob. "
Cronenberg owns us all

Depraved Dave has been on a roll since Crash, dishing out great fucking films in fashion, but I personally HATED History's writing.
I just thought it was so hamfisted and cliched and fucking juvenille. It shoulda been coasted over by somebody a little more gritty, like Shrader, before it went to screen for Dave, but that wasn't his fault.
He's my best friend's favourite director, so I'm amped he's got another project for him, since were good like that, but I just hope he quickens the pace a tad and doesn't linger with too long. Somehow, it just reads a whole lot like Demme's "Truth About Charlie", don't ask me why, but it just does.

"Craven, Aja Return for Another Adventure in the 'Hills' Get more on Fox | Posted 04.26.06 @ 02:49 pm ]
After raking in $41,228,161 domestically, it was no secret that a sequel to Fox Searchlight's The Hills Have Eyes (review #1, #2, #3) would be on the way. Wes Craven revealed to Fangoria today that he and his son Jonathan will be writing the sequel to Alexandre Aja’s remake (which Craven co-produced, based on his 1977 original), a project currently on the fast track. For a little bit on what to expect from Fox Searchlights The Hills Have Eyes II and a really, really good laugh, read on...
Wes Craven tells Fango, “We want to continue the story of the miners,” he continues, “this time, a group of National Guard screw-ups come face to face with the mutants on their last day of training in the desert. We will take the audience underground [into the mines] as well. The studio, Fox Searchlight, wants the sequel out a year to the day after the last one, so we have to deliver our script in a matter of weeks.”
After HILLS took in over $40 million in the U.S. alone, Craven and producing partner Marianne Maddalena offered the inevitable follow-up to Frenchman Aja (who co-wrote the redux with pal Gregory Lavasseur). Aja declined. “So my son and I decided to write it ourselves, and we are hard at work,” Craven says. “I wrote LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT in three days, so this shouldn’t be so tough.”
Three days? To me that just screams half-assed, uncaring and heartless. I don't want a horror movie that's manufactured only to make money, I want to be entertained as well. Now the past is making all the more sense... "
The first sequel was lame imo.
"Almost Human Starts New Doc on '80s Horror Get more on Vampire Movies | Posted 04.26.06 @ 08:42 pm ]
Almost Human's Robert Hall, who is one of B-D's good buddies, and one of the industry's best make-up artists, dropped us a line today to tell us about a documentery they're now filming in Los Angeles entitled The Rise and Fall of '80s Horror. The doc will feature interviews with Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Armand Mastroianni, Kevin Connor, Ashley Laurence, Clive Barker and more. But the main reason for the e-mail was that they need some help, and maybe some of you out there can help out. If you head over to the beta website you can see how you can help with the film, which is sure to be quite entertaining. Things are early in production, expect more details soon. "
Sounds cool

The 80's horror thing sounds like a high school year book of my horror collection and I hope will be an Easy Riders, Raging Bulls type thing for the gorehound set.
If you want a laugh, go out and rent the ORIGINAL Hills 2, mostly flashbacks and horridity, fucking terrible, Wes stops short of using a monkey, but that's about all!
Wes gets UBER props though, because IMO, New Nightmare is the best horror screenplay of all time, so he gets a pass.

Wes's worst theatrical film IMO has gotta be Deadly Friend with Christy Swanson, the old lady from Throw Mama from the Train gets killed when the robot throws a basketball at her and and explodes it!
My local Video 99 is selling all horror films for $0.99, so I'm stocking up!!!

Wes's worst i'd say would be Cursed.

Josh Jackson is one of my favourite actors, so Cursed gets a pass.
I actually wrote an editorial about Cursed that got into the Toronto Sun. I wrote in prior to it's release, defending Wes and Williamson, saying they've never had a bomb in their previous collaborations, so don't rip on them for doing "reshoots" and shit and that Jackson could've been the new Batman, so don't call the cast WB washouts. Damn was I wrong eh? Damn was that bad. Skeet Ulrich was lucky....for once. But what's better being in a bad movie, or being DUMPED from a bad movie???

I used to love Randy, when Jamie Kennedy was only known as Randy Meeks, nothing more.
Now, I'm glad he was killed off, since he's obnoxious as fuck and makes Carrot Top seems like a subtle observational comic from the mid 80's!
