Hey hardcore is Masters of Horror really good? It's just that I don't got cable anymore so I don't even know how good it is. Fuck it's not fair. I blame the government for this. I mean seriously how do they expect us to pay for some expensive ass cable when sometimes there isn't even a good show on, on cable. HBO late night from Mondays-Thursdays is the shit though huh hardcore you lucky bastard.

Takashi Miike is one fucked up horror helmer eh???!!!!
I dunno, MoH isn't all that good, JC's was da bomb, but Gordon's was super lame. A few others were good, I just find something about it really, Canadian(well, it's shot in BC) and really made for TV.
It's finely polished, but a lot of them are just retreads of Tales without the biting humour and pulpy feel. Alot of these just aren't creepy. I'll stick with my superstar produced Tales from my boys at H-B-O!!!!
Can't wait for my chiller classics guys, those'll be good tales of terror.

I just finished watching Frailty and I couldn't help but thinking how much more AMAZING it would have been if Zombie had helmed it. I think it woulda been the greatest horror film of all time!!!

"We've been waiting a long long time for a horror channel, any horror channel, a place where we can go at any time of the day and watch a horror flick. Comcast Corp. and Sony Pictures Entertainment are scheduled to unveil a joint venture to launch a horror/thriller-themed cable brand at the National Cable & Telecommunications Assn. convention today, according to Reuters. Scheduled to launch next Halloween, the untitled horror venture is the first offshoot of the Comcast-Sony linkage, with library titles including "Hostel," "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" and "Panic Room" as just a few of the hundreds of scary films Sony and MGM will provide. The other day Reuters broke the news that Comcast will be launching their own On Demand Horror Network this Halloween. Here are some quick details, "Movies for the yet-to-be named network, which will debut on Oct. 31 and expand Comcast's programing lineup, come from more than a thousand horror titles in the Sony and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer libraries. Starting with horror films was a "no-brainer" because of the "emotional connection" of such films, Diane Robina, president of Comcast's emerging networks, said in an interview. "It's about scaring the heck out of you," Robina said. About 40 hours of recent and classic movies, including "Night of the Living Dead," "The Grudge" and "Resident Evil," will be available [for FREE] per month at launch. About 70 hours will be made available in the future."

Reuters reports:
ATLANTA (Hollywood Reporter) - Comcast Corp. and Sony Pictures Entertainment are scheduled to unveil a joint venture to launch a horror/thriller-themed cable brand at the National Cable & Telecommunications Assn. convention on Monday.
The long-anticipated venture is an outgrowth of the companies' collaboration in Sony's $4.8 billion acquisition of MGM in 2004. Comcast's last-minute investment in the acquisition allowed Sony to complete the deal. The cable operator was motivated to take a stake in part to tap Sony and MGM's film libraries to program multiple cable channels.
"I think it's a great genre when you look at how successful the movies are at the boxoffice and on the retail side," Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko said. "It's one that's really been untapped on the channel side."
But the joint venture will not spawn a linear cable channel. Instead, the brand will exist as a collection of video-on-demand offerings free of charge to Comcast digital subscribers. Advertising is included. The company is seeking distribution with other cable operators as well.
In addition, the brand will have a heavy presence on the Internet and wireless platforms. Original programing is expected to become part of the mix eventually, though in smaller formats more conducive to Internet consumption rather than as full-fledged movies or series.
"Internet is key to this brand," said Diane Robina, president of emerging networks at Comcast. "The target demographics -- 18-24, 18-34 -- are on the Web just as much as they are on TV."
The new brand is the second VOD-centric programing package Comcast has launched under its own auspices without a formal channel component. In January, the operator announced a joint venture with Time Warner Cable to launch an all-exercise on-demand cable offering, ExerciseTV.
The horror offering is the second cable investment Sony has made. The company also has a 50 percent stake in GSN, which airs only game shows; the other half is owned by Liberty Media. "

It was recenlty announced that the fourth film in the franchise will be hitting theaters February 2nd, 2007. Peter Webber (Six Feet Under) directs off the latest story by author Thomas Harris. 'Young Hannibal; is the latest entry in the 'Silence of the Lambs franchise (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon). Read on for the new pic and a long synopsis.... This is the story of the monster Hannibal Lecter's formative years. These experiences as a child and young adult led to his remarkable contribution to the fields of medicine, music, painting and forensics. We begin in World War II at the medieval castle in Lithuania built by Dr. Lecter's forebear, Hannibal the Grim. The child Hannibal survives the horrors of the Eastern Front and escapes the grim Soviet aftermath to find refuge in France with the widow of his uncle, mysterious and beautiful Japanese descended from Lady Murasaki Shikibu, author of the Tale of Genji. Her kind and wise attentions help him understand his unbearable recollections of the war. B-D reader 'Toenails' writes in: "I spotted Michael Parks (Kill Bill) down here at Austin, Texas a couple of times now. Seems he's filming a role in "Grind House" - which has been on hiatus for a week because of the Rodriguez's split. He's not the sheriff though, because Michael Biehn has the starring role as the sheriff. Joining 'Terror' are Jeff Fahey (The Lawnmower Man), Rose McGowan (Scream) and Lucy Lawless (Xena). "Clarkson makes a booking for Friday? Posted by Clint Morris on April 14, 2006 Nothing like cheese to compliment a meaty ham sandwich....just as there's nothing like a few extra dollars to buy the dress for that imminent date with Oscar.
Just ask Patricia Clarkson.
Acccording to Dark Horizons,Oscar Nominee Clarkson ("Good Night and Good Luck", "Dogville") might be taking a breather from gobbling on meat for a while, to taste a side plate of cheese whiz. The actress has apparently signed to play Pamela Voorhees, mother of masked murderer Jason, in the upcoming "Friday the 13th" prequel. (Since big-time uber-producer Michael Bay is behind it, they've no doubt got the money to pay someone of Clarkson's calibre).
Betsy Palmer played Mumma Voorhees in the 1980 original. When Palmer balked at the idea of reprising the role for "Freddy Vs.Jason" (2003), actress Paula Shaw took over the part. Obviously the role of Voorhees in the new film is going to be a tad more substantial than that fleeting appearance she offered in the latter, so they're seemingly after someone with some pull, power and ability. More of a star, if you will. Yeah, I'd believe Clarkson in the role.
Though details are sketchy about the new "Friday" film, it's said to be partly set in the present day, and partly concerned with telling the backstory of Jason and his nutty mother. Think "Back to the Future II" - but with decapitations, butcher's knives and hockey masked-murderers.
Clarkson will next be seen in the slightly-less-popcornish "All the Kings Men" with Jude Law and Sean Penn."

" Last night it was reported that Patricia Clarkson (The Woods) was in talks with New Line Cinema to take on the role of Pamela Voorhees in the re-invisionment of Friday The 13th -- we've got word that this is completely not true. We checked in with Platinum Dunes about the rumor and got this response, "If that were the case I would consider myself a very lucky producer. Nonetheless, there is NO truth to that rumor at all. In fact we haven't even starting speaking about casting yet." The remake, which is written by Mark Wheaton and will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman, will incorporate components of the films, though it is known that Jason will wear the mask and will kill. The setting will be that of the first movie, Crystal Lake... "

A prequel to Jason just seems moot to me, as he was an innocent, wasn't he???
Krueger and Myers would BOTH be far more intriuging characters to base a prequel around, but Platinumn Dunes has no interest in intriuging the viewer, just exposing them to loud noises and flashy images. FUCK YOU BAY!!!

"'Project Terror' Officially Shut Down... for Good? Get more on Dimension | Posted 04.13.06 @ 09:24 pm ]
One of regular (and most reliable) scoopers dropped us a line this afternoon with some depressing news. According to our source Robert Rodriquez's "Project Terror" was officially shut down for good as of yesterday- the crew was let go and everything. It may gear up again next year, but who knows. Until then, there's no word on the fate of Tarantino's "Death Proof", which is scheduled to shoot in LA this summer. WeinsteinCo.'s Grind House double feature was scheduled to hit theaters December 1st, but it looks like we may be waiting until next year- but who knows maybe they'll pull a "Kill Bill" and 'Project Terror' will end up being a Volume 2 so to speak. Watch for an official statement in the coming weeks for official word. Rodriguez's part, "Project Terror," will be a zombie pic, while Tarantino's section, "Death Proof," will a slasher seg. "
No god no.

"New Details on Jigsaw Victims, Wahlberg Out?! Get more on Saw | Posted 04.17.06 @ 06:15 pm ]
It has been announced (unofficially) that Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Donnie Wahlberg will be returning to the Lionsgate franchise in Saw III, only we've just received word that one of them may not actually take the role! We got an e-mail from the official Wahlberg website who tells us that Donnie is making an official statement soon declining his return as Eric Mathews in 'Saw III', so I guess we'll just play the waiting game for the news. Until then, JoBlo scored some delicious news regarding two new victims in the film, which is shooting for an October 27th release. Read on for the skinny...
JoBlo writes:
"Two of our new victims are Lynn and Jeff, one of whom runs quickly afoul of Jigsaw. Lynn is a married mother in her late 30s who is kidnapped by Jigsaw. As you might expect, all is not sunny on Lynn's front who's got some dark secrets she's keeping from her family. Then there's Jeff, a dad who has never recovered fully after his son died. It was an accident but he's never been able to forgive himself. How he fits into the SAW legacy is being kept a mystery. Producers are looking for name actors for both of the roles, which should be cast in the next week or so.""

"Weinstein Confirms 'Scary Movie 5' is Already in the Works! Get more on Scary Movie | Posted 04.16.06 @ 11:35 pm ]
While reporting that Scary Movie 4 (review) took home the #1 spot with an estimated $41 million, Variety got work directly from Bob Weinstein who confirmed a fifth entry in the franchise is in development! Zucker is currently working on Superhero!, meaning Scary Movie 5 likely wouldn't come until late 2007 at the earliest, unless projects switch position, according to Variety. While the opening for 'SM4' was very strong -- biggest ever on Easter weekend -- the franchise is losing a little steam. Despite the benefit of Good Friday matinees with most kids out of school, take was off 15% from the debut of Scary Movie 3 (review) in October 2003. "
"Grind House stops production? Posted by Clint Morris on April 17, 2006 John Jarratt has always been rumoured for a role in Rodriguez/Tarantino’s “Grind House” – he announced a while back that he’d jetted off to L.A to speak with QT, and even met with Captain banana chin when he was in town last – but nothing’s ever been confirmed. In fact, with Jarratt back home at the moment – and “Grind House” filming stateside – all signs would point to a Mick Taylor-less film, right?
Apparently not.
Speaking to Australia’s EXPLODE Magazine this month – for the DVD release of “Wolf Creek” – the amiable actor (a self-confessed ‘Nana’s favourite’) hinted that he will indeed be among the ensemble cast of “Grind House”.
“Things are looking promising but I can’t say much more than that. I will eventually but now now”, says Jarratt.
Nuff’ said. Weinsteins have balls, if casting leaks.
Tarantino’s half of the movie won’t be shooting until the Summer, which explains why Jarratt hasn’t been spotted in the Qantas Club Lounge yet. Besides Mickey Rourke, none of the cast for Tarantino’s split of the feature has been announced yet.
Jarratt also talks to FILMINK this month, and says the same, that it’s “looking good” but way too early to announce.
Sounds like that’s as good a confirmation as we’ll ever get. Could be a grand couple of years for the former TV Toolman, with the actor also linked to a role in Tarantino’s WWII epic “Inglorious Bastards”.
But there’s bigger “Grind House” news today. Word has it that the production - well, Rodriguez’s half of the film – has stopped production.
Several sources, including one which we just checked in with this afternoon, tells us that there’s a bit of “trouble there – and that it could be a few months before everything is worked out”. We’re told it’s got nothing to do with the studio and Rodriguez disagreeing over anything, it’s merely “one of those things”. Funnily enough, Tarantino's half of the film seems to be going ahead as planned.....
Unfortunately, we couldn’t get any more out of our contact than that – gun at his head and all.
Watch this Space. "
GAR, Roth or Zombie should replace him.

Rob Zombie would FUCK TARANTINO UP in a one on one battle of the HOMAGES!!!
OMG that would be the bomb.
Imgaine it:
Tarantino's uber-lame "Death Proof", where he jerks off the Fulci and Argento while ripping off Christine. Then a "neat" trailer made by Eli Roth, then the lights cut again and Rob Zombie comes out with HIS 70 minute movie.
I can see it now, Twitch of the Death Nerve meets Pee Wee Herman. He would totally punk QT out of his shoes. I have absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that if he and QT pasted together two of their pieces together, one would look like a horror collage, and the other a horror ESSAY. I have such a respect for Zombie's work in horror that it wouldn't even be a contest.
Big Chin'd have to lock himself up in his mansion for another ten years to live down the shame!!!
Personally, if anybody took RR's place for some reason, if not Roth, I'd call PT Anderson. As he's a movie geek bud of QT who could tear the roof down with some fucked up story.
PS. What the fuck better things is Donnie Wahlberg doing instead of Saw 3? I hated 2, I thought it was sadistic horror porn, but I c'mon, he's a fuckin' NKOTB reject, take the gig you PRICK!

I think PTA is a pretentious DOUCHE BAG for the record and I love his middle two films and if you listen to his commentaries, he's so into his own act its sickening, but buddy had got some serious talent behind the lens. I think he's the type of guy who could really surprise in the horror genre. Think if Scorsese helmed an episode of Tales, it'd be weird, but hypnotizing.
