First: Let me stress that this is merely a popularity vote. This is about who you like more, not who you feel is objectively better.
Anyway, I wanted a popularity guage of the two icons of the attitude era. Were you more of a Rock guy, or an Austin guy?
I've always been a Rock guy. I've always felt he was better on the mic, and, after Austin had to modify his style due to injury, in the ring.

Austin all the way.
Prior to his injury, I would say Austin was the better worker. After his injury, however, there wasn’t a great deal between them. Neither man was in the Mitsuharu Misawa league, but they were both exciting to watch.
In terms of mic ability, I would also say Austin. It’s important for me to point out that his sense of humour appeals to me much more than The Rock’s, so you can take that in account.
The Rock was pretty good, but I often felt his promos were pointless. With Austin, I felt his mic work set the standard. He was a face, with few face tendencies and it blurred black and white into shades of grey. Sure some people will argue that there were people in ECW who did it before Austin, but that’s neither here nor there.

Always preferred The Rock, especially as a heel.

I started watching back in early 2000 when Austin was out injured; The Rock the man during that era, therefore I have to say him.

i've always loved the charisma The Rock had. even when he was supposed to be hated he was still cool. his promos were hilarious and i prefered him over Stone Cold.

The Rock. He was the best heel I have ever seen, and one of the best faces.

I always thought The Rock had more about him. He definitely knew what was going on around him, always put the business first and was really respectful towards me and mine. Steve's attitude often put me off him; you can't have an ego in this business or act like an ass the way he has done on occasion.

Steve Austin, by far.

Rock was my favorite growing up, but Austin is the better talent by and large.

I would have to say The Rock. He could always get the crowd involved a lot more than Austin could I thought. Especially as a hell.

I liked Rock more overall. Simply because I totally marked out all the time for him back in 99/00. He had amazing charisma and his humour just totally clicked with me. His promo's were hilarious along with his facial expressions. The 'This is your life' segment from a 1999 Raw was the most I've ever laughed at a wrestling show.
Now I'm 7 years older and wiser to the business, I know that Austin is the more talented in-ring wise and would rather watch an Austin match than a Rock one. I still love them both though.

The Rock. He was the best heel I have ever seen, and one of the best faces. Ditto

The Rock, while I liked Austin, Rocky just had the look, the charisma that made him so popular

Austin by a long shot. The only time I ever liked Rock was the 2003 Heel Rock, Austin I've always liked.

Come on people, why does Rock always pulverize everyone in these polls? He was fun and all, but not that great.

Come on people, why does Rock always pulverize everyone in these polls? He was fun and all, but not that great. To be fair, this is purely a popularity poll.

I vote Steve Austin. He's primarily the reason why I got so involved with wrestling. I always found him to be highly entertaining . . . & his feud with Vince McMahon is one of my favorite's of all time. There have been times throughout my years of watching where I genuinely hated The Rock . . . but never Steve Austin. No matter what he did to get on my bad side, it never worked. His heel character, as a member of The Invasion, is one of the most entertaining in WWE history . . . in my opinion. Plus, he's the man who revolutionized the way we watch . . . & almost single handedly started the Attitude Era.
