With so many people around these pasrts with such strong views on music, here's a chance for you to impose your tastes on the misinformed. Try and make it an album you don't think the majority of us have heard. Mine are:
1. The Holy Bible - Manic Street Preachers This was back when the Manics were awesome as opposed to just being alright. They had a message and weren't shy about projecting it (a top of the pops performance back in 1995 will attest to this), and were very aggressive in getting that message across. Brilliant riffs, complimented by lyrics full of political overtures and you've got imo, one of the 90's best albums.
2. Gold against the Soul - Manic Street Preachers Quite simply, the manics best album. Their 2nd effort is a very underrated album, due to the fact that their debut album, "Generation Terrorists", was considered one of the best debut releases of all time, "Holy bible" is simply fantastic and their later releases were commercial smashes. With that being said this is by far my favourite effort from the group, with slick production and music to die for it hits all the rigt notes. It takes a few listens to really appreciate, and is the personifacation of a "grower".
3. A Certain Trigger - Maximo Park Another band spawned from Britain's current elasticated rock/pop resurgence. With acts like Franz Ferdinand leading the way, and every other new band being called "The" something, it's easy for bands to be lost uner the radar. Maximo Park are the perfect mixture of Rock and alternative pop, and will have you singing along in no time at all. Honestly one of the best acts to be spawned from the British new wave.
More to come later.

What does Fucking A actually mean...
Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd Brilliant...one of the highest selling albums ever
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd Again...WOW! The amount of emotional factors to Syd Barret is amazing. Everything is about him and the music on this album is simply phenominal...but I would say that

1. Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater Now, this is not only one of the greatest rock operas of all time, but also the most incredible display of technical proficiency to emerge from any band of at least the past ten years. Often cited as the progresisve metal album, everyone should own a copy of this... but relatively few do. If you like intelligent, thought-provoking music, buy this. But if you just want some great riffs, excellent solos and fucking classy tracks, buy this.
2. Deadwing by Porcupine Tree The best album to be released last year, and probably my favourite of the century thus far. Porcupine Tree get more and more metal with each album, but still leave space for softer alternative rock tracks like Lazarus that completely put Coldplay or anything else in the charts to shame. Essentially a ghost story, Deadwing was originally a script by PT mastermind Steven Wilson, which adds extra mystique to an already awesome album. Shallow will blow your fucking mind wide open.
3. Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche This, at least, is worth a listen. Overrated in the world of prog rock, Mindcrime is often called an equal to the likes of SFAM (see 1), yet to me is often more Iron Maiden than King Crimson. Anyway, it is at the end of the day a very good piece of work: in some ways a throwback to the '70s style of rock. It also tells the best rock opera story of all time: a mandrugged up and trained to kill for an underground society, turned against the woman he loves...
I'll think of others later.

Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys Exile on Main St. and Sticky Fingers by the Stones Anything by Muddy Waters or Robert Johnson Rumours by Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits Vol.1 or an Innocent Man by Billy Joel just as long as you get his best song, "Leave A Tender Moment Alone" Tapestry by Carole King (Seriously, if anyone wants to be a song writer, have to check this out) Highway 61 REvisited or Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan Greatest Hits and B-Sides by Prince
that should start you off with the best intro to good music..... I'm digging that there is so much underground stuff listed on here....... But you've got to admit, if you really want to get into music.........gotta start with these.
