"The Neutron Star" Jerome Novaho

"The Downward Spiral" Matt Downing

In an on again/off again rivalry/friendship that dates back to their glory days in RMW, "The Neutron Star" & "The Downward Spiral" have always been an intricate part of each other's professional careers.

Since coming to Onslaught, however, the need to succeed has overshadowed everything. These men have been at each other's throats since CCW Resurrection . . . but at Night Of The Immortals, the fans will witness as intense a contest as they have ever seen.

Good friends. Better enemies. Either way, the heat is on.

A video starts to play, first there is a dark screen, then red text fades into the screen.

THE PAST

The video flashes up a video in slow motion of a the Ikon Center, as 'Last Resort' plays for a moment and we see Downing coming down to the ring, slapping the fans hands, quickly followed by Jerome Novaho to 'Crawl Through Knives'.

Wilikins: Interesting match up here tonight. I am sure this match won’t disappoint. Both these guys have something to prove. Novaho wants a perfect debut match and Downing wants to pave his way into title contention.

We then see Novaho being beaten on by Steve Shamrock, Shamrock grabbing Novaho's neck for the chokeslam, as Matt Downing flies off the top rope, axe handling Shamrocks hand and Novaho crashing down to the mat.

Wilikins: Yes! Downing with a brilliant save on his tag partner Novaho!

Music starts, with 'Just Like You' By Three Days Grace playing.

The music plays, as we see Novaho lift up Pat Hollywood, as Downing runs off of the ropes and hit a Hart Attack for the pin.

Wilikins: And the winners of this contest are Matt Downing and Jerome Novaho!

Downing and Novaho exit the ring, celebrating with arms over eachothers shoulders, laughing at their opponents.

Wilikins: These two are the best of friends, Cyrus!

The screen switches to a banner saying RMW Night of Champions on it.

Wilikins: Welcome to RMW Night Of Champions, The night were all RMW titles will be on the line.

Cyrus: The match that could bring someone to the top of the mountain tonight, a triple threat match for the RMW Heavyweight Championship! It'll be Jerome Novaho vs. Matt Downing vs. Victor Von Danzig, and the gold is well and truly up for grabs tonight. Can Novaho and Downing uphold their friendship that has taken RMW by storm?

We are then in the main event with the gold on the line, as Novaho outstretches his hand to Downing, as Downing and Novaho hug. But Novaho breaks the truce, as Damage.Inc run down to ringside and join forces with Novaho to beat down Downing. We then see Novaho hit the Nova Effect and get the pin.

Wilikins: I dont belive this! This is just sick! Novaho has joined up with these guys? Why? Just why?

Cryus: 'Cos Novaho is a smart man, He knows whats best for himself!


A new video starts to play, first there is a dark screen, and the only sound that can be heard is a roaring crowd chanting 'RM-Dub,RM-Dub' again and again. Then we hear the voice of Wilikins, the RMW announcer shouting into his headset.

Wilikins: Shit! Cyrus did you see that, blood went flying into the second row of the crowd.

The crowd gasps in shock, and then cheer again, as we hear two men fighting for their survival with sounds of punches and slams taking place, until we hear an anxious cheer from the crowd, and a loud crash, as the crowd chant 'Holy shit!, Holy shit!'.

Wilikins: A DOWNWARD SPIRAL THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!

The crowd erupts in both shock and delight, as they count down.

ONE...

TWO...

THREE!

Wilikins: Here is your winner and new RMW Heavyweight Champion… MATT DOWNING!

We see Novaho helped up by Downing, who has the title belt over his shoulder. Novaho reluctantly shakes Downings hand in respect.

Wilikins: Even through all what these guys have gone through, they share respect with each other. Who knows maybe they can rekindle their friendship.

We then hear the crowd go wild, as Matt Downing, Jerome Novaho and Griffin Young walk down the rampway to a massive crowd reaction.

Wilikins: These three are the future of this business, Cyrus. New Blood Rising!

It shows Downing shaking hands with Young at Youngs farewell speech, and Young giving Tammy the breakdown, as all three of them laugh and celebrate with the fans.

THE PRESENT

The CCW logo flashes over the screen and we see Jerome Novaho with a mic in his hand.

Jerome Novaho: Don't say it. I thought after I had screwed up back in RMW that it was over and now the "friendship" was stronger that ever before. I was wrong. Downing and I are no more than opponents now. Nothing more, nothing less.

We then see Novaho attack Downing in the backstage area, and then Downing costing Novaho the Global title by interferance.

Stewart: So, have you got a response to Jerome Novaho's challenge to a match at Night of the Immortals two?

Matt Downing: Hell yes, I accept!

Stewart: You heard it here first, folks. The very first match is now set for Night of the Immortals two! It'll be Jerome Novaho vs Matt Downing in the grudge match everyone of you Onslaught fans have been waiting for!

We then see videos of Downing hitting the downward spiral on Novaho, then Downing having his hands raised after beating Novaho.

Matt Downing: Jerome Novaho, on the Night of the Immortals. Only one of the two of us will become immortal. Only one of the two of us will have tens of thousands of fans chant their name, and it sure as hell won't be you if I have anything to say about it!

Jerome Novaho, you're downward spiral starts now!

Then we see Novaho hitting the Nova Effect on Downing and getting the win.

Jerome Novaho: Anyway, after tonight Matt your going to be surprised because what I've got planned is going to set me up nicely on the road to Immortailty.

So do you....Get It? Got It? Good!

We hear the match annoucement again, but this time in slow motion with a deepening of the voice...

Stewart: You heard it here first, folks... The very first match is now set for Night of the Immortals two!... It'll be Jerome Novaho vs Matt Downing in the grudge match... everyone of you Onslaught fans have been waiting for!

The music ends as the Night of Immortal 2 banner fades in and out.

[Raz]

The screen is black as a light is shon downwards onto a room filled with chains hanging down from the ceiling. The camera looks sideways and a TV comes into the screen. It plays what seems to be last weeks Onslaught, as we see Matt Downing lying on the ground after his match with the Wh_. Soon, we see Jerome Novaho running down to the ring and sliding underneath the ropes. Then we see Novaho slapping the motionless Downing in the face, lifting him up and dropping the already knocked out Downing with the Super Nova, after which recieving a cold reaction from the fans with a flood of boo's, and throwing garbage into the ring. We see athe face of Novaho, looking up at the fans with disgust, before the TV flicks off immediately. We hear a familiar voice...

Matt: I guess this is it...the big one, probably the biggest match of my career to this date. Tonight at the night of the immortals, the biggest night of the year, the showcase of the immortals...the fans will get treated to a match that has gone beyond just a normal feud, gone beyond just a normal rivalry, it's become a fight for the very careers of the two competitors. You see folks, up until last week, I don't really think I had found my niche in this company, the place that I fit into within Onslaught. A place I can call home, if you will.

We see Downing standing in darkness, as he plays the video again, but mutes the sound.

Matt: Up until this very moment in my stint so far on Onslaught and in CCW, I hadn't really found my purpose to be here. What was my reason for being?, I mean, I have talked for weeks about how great I am, and how I'm going to prove myself to everyone who doesn't think I have what it takes to make it in this company...but alas, I failed at only the first roadblock. I lost to the Wh_, I put up a valiant effort but couldn't come up with the goods. That hurts, because up until this time in my career I've always delivered what I've promised and overcame all obstacles that got in my way. I became the youngest RMW champion ever, just like I said I would, I think, at least I hope I garnered the respect of the CCW fans, just like I said I would. After this bitter dissappiontment, and realisation that my best just wasn't good enough, I wake up in my lockeroom after being carried by the EMT's, and I see what Jerome Novaho did to me after the match.

The TV replays the vicious Super Nova and Matt crashing back down onto the canvas.

Matt: I saw that Jerome has no remorse or morales with how he gets one over on me. From the start I thought this little tenure was about seeing who the better man was, and having the match in order to give the fans what they wanted. But really, and this is what I realised, it isn't. It's about hurting the other man in any way possible in order to gain a victory. Jerome, you've changed. And true to form, this leads me into thinking maybe it's time I changed. Maybe it's time I stopped being the man who wasn't too bothered about wins and losses, as long as the fans got what they wanted and were happy. They were happy, I was happy. And I would put my body through hell to fulfil that wish. While I was sitting in my lockeroom trying to recover, it occured to me that my opponent has taken drastic measures to claim the win. This lead me to thinking maybe I should fight fire with fire and restrategize so that the only thing I was desperate to have was the one little tick on my wins and losses record. But no. I couldn't do it, that wasn't part of my new direction.

He turns off the TV and walks over to a desk, picks up some tape and starts to wrap it around his fists.

Matt: The niche I talked about earlier then became clear. The reason I'm here is to be the answer to YOU, Jerome Novaho, and what you've become. There was a time when we would celebreate a job well done after the show and drink to success in the future. Well, the future has crept on us for a few years now, and it's finally revealed itself to us, and we find ourselves on opposite sides of the ring. This niche has presented itself to me and in that dark, soulless lockeroom I made a the choice to accept that purpose.

Matt turns to a picture on the wall, it shows three men, with smiles on their faces, holding up two shining gold belts. One with heavyweight title on it, one with TV title on it.

Matt: Memories gone by of good times where nothing seemed to matter except the future of the business taking what was rightfully theirs, and to go out there and show the fans that the new blood was here to stay. Well, we're all still here but some of us have been corrupted by our success. One of us will win gold tonight, and the other two will be broken down to only one.

He turns away from the picture, leaving it in darkness.

Matt: Jerome Novaho, if you wanted a pissed off Matt Downing to face you in the ring tonight, well you got him. You have awakened something buried deep inside of me that I didn't know was there. Everything seemed so easy until now, and after my first setback, my only choice is to carry on regardless, but this time, the situation calls for some new tactics. Jerome Novaho, at Night of the Immortals two, only one man will walk out of that ring. Only one man will be ABLE to walk out of that ring. This isn't just about seeing who the better man is, oh no, it's about the guy who will come out of the Night of the Immortals as the one who triumphed in the most heated battle in CCW history! Jerome, you're downward spiral starts...NOW.

Downing storms out of the screen and out of the lockeroom, slamming the door behind him.
