I'll leave this as a sticky to anyone creating new characters. My hope in doing this is that we'll avoid any future situations where guys are trying to figure out why they can't get booked in matches or angles written for them, only to find out that the staff finds their character confusing and hard to write for. So here is a tutorial, with hints on each of the categories. Feel free to deviate from the suggestions, but do not e they're here for a reason.
Name: pretty much up to you, but try and find something that isn't A) a blatant rip off/parody of an existing wrestler and B) isn't too close to an existing character
Height & Weight: Do this realistically. Think about what kind of style you want him ot wrestle, and then think about how big the real life wrestlers are who use that style. For example, you wouldn't make a high flying type over 250 lbs, or a power wrestler under 250. If his build is way unrealistic, or inconsistent with his style, then we have a really hard time writing for them.
Appearence (ring): His ring attire, pretty straight forawrd. Though again, make sure it's consistent with the character.
Appearence (backstage): same
Hometown: Nothing much to say
Face/Heel: Know this: A heel doesn't always have to be some dark, brooding, sadistic type; a face doesn't always have to an energetic knight in shining armor. A strong individual personality can fit either face or heel.
Bio: Knowing that you'll have to cut promos, think of a character that you can work with. I'd stay away from the REALLY gimmicky stuff (though if you can make it work, then go ahead), and just think about creating a beleivable, interesting character, even if it is relatively basic.
Wrestling style: Like I said, coordinate this with your wrestler's size and backgorund. Feel free to write several sentences on this; don't feel confined to just a few words. Try and find a realistic selection, and avoid randomly meshing together several styles that are polar opposites.
Furthermore (and this is a pet peeve of mine), don't randomly throw in "techinical" to your wrestler's description if it doesn't mesh with their backgorund and build. It's entirely possible to wrestle a smart, fundamentally sound, ore at the very leats entertaining match without wrestling a technical match (See: Hansen, Foley, Rock, Vader). And also remeber: we'd never intentionally write someone as a bad worker.
Finishing move(s): Something believable and compatible with your style, and that's not the RKO.
Favourite moves: First, let me say that you can make this section as detailed or as you like, and feel free to divide the section into things like setup moves, rest holds, signature spots etc.
Second, let me stress the improtance of logically selecting moves. Rather than choosing mves for volume or for their flash, think about your finisher, and then think about creating a moveset that builds towards that ending. This may not apply in some cases, but it generally helps. And don't just throw in a couple suplexes and the Sharpshooter because "good wrestlers" liek Hart and benoit do it.
Entrance music: Nothing used by well-known real wrestlers or other CCW guys.
Entrance description: nothing to add here, just describe how they come out, to help us writers.
Preferred picture: Real photos, not illustrated ones. And anybody but Orton.
