That's the point. Either this works, and Americans will go and see the shell of a man perform and think it's gold, or it won't, and an American company will have spent far too much money (which is the case anyway).
Plus, the other story: Beckham, still jetlagged and therefore able to operate at night, has been travelling around the West Coast, breaking into people's houses and teabagging them in their sleep. I hear he even handed out some Asian goggles to an unsuspecting Kobe Bryant.

You underestimate the foregin market then, Stinger. The number of shirts Beckham will ship abroad will reach figures you, and I assume most of America will probably have never seen, you have no idea how huge the Beckham brand is, that's what the investors are banking on.
I agree, it will fail, but seriously, find a website, and look at the profit Madrid made from the year they signed Beckham compared to the previous years when the club were over £250million in debt. His signing alone helped them out of that rut and that was down to shirt sales and image righs in Asia alone.

I may be underestimating him but I think that now that he has left Europe, fans interest in Europe will begin to dwindle. I know he's huge but I just don't see people caring that much over in Europe now that he's in the States.

May be true, but Beckham's main target audience is in Asia, hence it doesn't matter where he's playing, they won't lose interest as long as he's playing.

The year they signed Zidane for 50 million, the Madrid council bought their training ground for over 200 million quid. That was the biggest chunk. But if you look at their bank balance now, one-foot has certainly made a difference.

The players such as Zidane must be cursing the fact that the 'David Beckham rule' came into effect after their retirement.
This name is actually the official name for the new rule that means each MLS side can spend unlimited money on ONE player each.
I'm sure many recently retiereed players will be jealous of the pay Beckham will recieve to trot around a pitch playing at a farcical level. I supppose there was always the Middle East for that, however. Hello Figo.

I heard that a number of Galaxy players have handed intrasfer requests because of the amount of money they are throwing at Bckham.
