AJPW Triple Crown Champion Satoshi Kojima faces IWGP Champion Hiroyoshi Tenzan in Tokyo, Japan. The two are former tag-team partners and this match represents a landmark in wrestling history, after 30+ years of competition between AJPW and NJPW. Kojima wins the match at 59:47 to become the first wrestler to hold both the IWGP and Triple Crown at the same time.

Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes, more commonly known as Eddie Guerrero, dies in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An autopsy revealed that Guerrero died as a result of acute heart failure, caused by undiagnosed arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and enlargement of the heart as a result of prior anabolic steroid abuse. Although Guerrero had not taken alcohol or illicit drugs for over four years, his past excesses contributed to his heart failure. At the time of his death, he had recently used narcotic painkillers. He was 38.

AJPW Triple Crown Champion Satoshi Kojima faces IWGP Champion Hiroyoshi Tenzan in Tokyo, Japan. The two are former tag-team partners and this match represents a landmark in wrestling history, after 30+ years of competition between AJPW and NJPW. Kojima wins the match at 59:47 to become the first wrestler to hold both the IWGP and Triple Crown at the same time.

Eduardo Gory Guerrero Llanes, more commonly known as Eddie Guerrero, dies in Minneapolis, Minnesota. An autopsy revealed that Guerrero died as a result of acute heart failure, caused by undiagnosed arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease and enlargement of the heart as a result of prior anabolic steroid abuse. Although Guerrero had not taken alcohol or illicit drugs for over four years, his past excesses contributed to his heart failure. At the time of his death, he had recently used narcotic painkillers. He was 38.
