We should have more ratings details later, but the early word is that last night's "This is TNA!" special on SpikeTV scored a 1.2 rating.

TNA's "This is TNA" special drew a 1.1 rating. Sites that I've visited claim this as a disappointment due to the quality of it's matches, and it's length. They basically gave their best to a free audience and failed to claim any rise in viewers. I personally think TNA is in a lot of trouble...[/quote]
Their best? 1] Those matches did not represent their best, especially crap like the King of the Mountain and Cage vs. Rhino. 2] For what is supposed to be the five greatest matches in TNA history, they all of the matches showcased took place in the span of five months. Yeah, great job. 3] Heavy editing and the retarded "TNA films" camera shots took away any pleasure of watching the show, even if they were great bouts.

That's kind of sad, but I guess it's easy enough for them to dismiss as it just being a recap show. It would have been nice to see them going for it with an actual show. They had the slot and if they were to throw in some decent lenghted matches to a regular TNA show they could have had 2 hours. Now it's just a missed opportunity.

Here they finally had a 2 hour time slot during primetime on Monday night with no WWE programs on. What do they do? Instead of showing the wrestling fans what a 2 hour Impact! show can do, they do a simple recap show (which never really draw in any new viewers) of matches from the past 5 or so PPVs.

Yeah...I kind of figured this was going to fail. I also fully expect iMPACT! to get fucking buried this Thursday as well.
Overall though, the problem with this show was firstly that it was a recap, and secondly that none of it was really anything special. A clusterfuck ladder match with weird rules and a penalty box? A fucking PENALTY BOX?? The "Dream Match of the Decade," which lasted all of 13 minutes? They may as well have had Hemme vs. Fat Oily Naked Guy for all the special did.
I want TNA to do well. I really, seriously do...competition in any market is a good...but TNA is too small a company to be doing this bullshit. They not only missed a massive oppertunity to steal some audiance, in the process they burried themselves and looked foolish. "The top 50 moments in TNA history?" How long have they been around? It took 10 years for WWE do do that for Raw...and that show blew as well.
If they wanted to impress people...they should have gone all out. No stupid gimmick matches, no dumb ass angles (some Paparazzi Productions wouldn't hurt...Hemme/VKM would)...just straight up wrestling, like the company claims to be. Honestly, six brand new matches...8-15 minutes a match, and one 20 minute main event featuring the heavy hitters? That'd be way better than claiming that all your best product happend from the time Kurt Angle debuted and did nothing for you and now.
Can't wait for those thursday ratings.
